COLLEGE PLANNING MISINFORMATION

Two of the biggest misconceptions about college planning are:

  1. You don’t need to begin until junior year of high school.
  2. We make too much money to get any money from a college.

Nothing could be further from the truth! In reality, the earlier you start, the better prepared your family will be—financially, academically, and strategically.

Think about it: if you’re going to invest $100,000-400,000 or more in your child’s college education, doesn’t it make sense to start planning well in advance? Proper preparation takes time—time to save, time to explore smart funding strategies, and time for your student to discover their career interests and dream schools.

Starting early means:

  • Maximizing Financial Aid & Scholarships – The earlier you plan, the more options you have to reduce out-of-pocket costs even with higher income or assets.
  • Strategic Savings Growth – Families who not only begin saving earlier, but also save smarter, have the advantage of more growth potential and even exemption from the college aid assessments.
  • Academic & Extracurricular Readiness – Many students need the right coach to help them build a strong college resume and brag sheet.
  • Clarity of Direction – Early exploration helps your student identify passions, career paths, and the types of colleges that will best support their goals.

Don’t wait until deadlines are looming and opportunities are limited. Take charge of the process now. Complete the form and request your College Planning and Funding Meeting to see what steps your family should be taking—year by year—to stay ahead of the curve.

FAQs

What is College Admissions Counseling?2025-09-03T16:23:00+00:00

College Admissions Counseling offers guidance based on a student’s interests, qualities, and career aspirations to maximize their potential for acceptance into a student’s chosen colleges.

We have strategies to get into those hard-to-get-into colleges and how to market and position your child to stand out over thousands of other proactive students.
In addition, we go above and beyond to address financial considerations. A big mistake many people make is getting into a college–and then realizing they can’t afford it. We ensure you avoid this costly mistake.

What if my family income is too high to qualify for financial aid?2025-09-03T16:23:24+00:00

Most middle-income and higher-income families do not know that there are specific grants and scholarships for their family, and many ways to save on paying for college costs. It helps to remember that colleges are a business. Our multifaceted approach has helped many families who didn’t think they would qualify for financial aid get tens of thousands off college expenses. We make college affordable for families of all income and asset levels.

Do you give out loans or scholarships?2025-09-03T16:22:39+00:00

College Made Easy is not a lending institution or a scholarship fund. Our team of college financial experts will help you maximize your financial aid potential and ensure you do not get sucked into borrowing expensive college loans that favor the college instead of your family.

What are the benefits of working with a College Funding and Planning expert?2025-09-03T16:24:59+00:00

We work with our parents through the whole college process, for all your children, by providing customized financial, tax, risk, and EFC/SAI solutions to help achieve the most savings for your specific financial profile.

What’s the difference between College Made Easy’s services and a school guidance counselor?2025-09-03T16:26:42+00:00

It is true that school guidance counselors and college advisors can also be helpful in the college planning process, but consider this: your school counselor probably has a caseload of 500+ students. Our services give you the personalized attention you need when making such a big life decision. In addition, school guidance counselors do not provide guidance on complex financial, funding, and tax issues. We have the training and ability to advise on your financial situations and ways to strategically afford the cost of college.

What if my student doesn’t know what they want to do or doesn’t know where they want to go? Wouldn’t it be a waste of time for the service?2025-09-03T16:28:07+00:00

No, in fact, that is the exact reason to hire us in the first place. The reason your student is overwhelmed, confused, stressed, and does not know what college is right is that they have not received the proper help in high school. Remember, our service can include private meetings with your student to create a career profile, pick the right schools, and focus on the right majors if needed. We will be working on these important decisions every step of the way and holding your hand all the way through the process.

What are your fees?2025-09-03T16:29:46+00:00

You will find our fees quite affordable and with various programs to fit your budget and needs. You can find these options outlined on our offering page.

When’s the right time to start college planning?2025-09-03T16:31:41+00:00

Since you are assessed by the colleges on your prior, prior year, the earlier you start, the better. And, when it comes to college planning, time is money. We’ve saved families thousands more by getting started as early as 8th and 9th grade–in fact, we consider 9th grade the BEST time to get started with college planning. Don’t worry if your child is already in their senior year (or even in college) already, there are still strategies we can employ that can save you money. We can help you identify costly mistakes you may have made in the past, or are currently making–and prevent you from making them again. Let us provide you with a free assessment, and you can decide the next steps.
